The Call for Papers has officially opened for the 2020 Arizona APCO/NENA State Training Conference. First review of submissions will occur on September 27th, 2019.

We encourage you to submit your abstract to be part of the educational program at the 2020 Arizona APCO/NENA State Training Conference!

This Call for Papers invites APCO and NENA members, industry associates, business professionals and educators to submit a written presentation for development into an education program or workshop at the 2020 State Training Conference.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to be part of a great event; sharing your knowledge and expertise with the public safety communications community. Please follow this link and complete the required form if you are interested in presenting.


Telecommunicator/Front-line Operations: Best practices, specific call processes, stress management, incident dispatching, tactical dispatching, lessons learned, customer service, motivational, legal liability, natural/manmade disasters, terrorism, gang violence, EMD techniques, cultural diversity, communications training officer.

Technical: Lessons learned from significant event or project, regional or statewide projects, emerging issues, Computer Aided Dispatch, radio systems, telephone systems, recording systems, telematics, GIS and 9-1-1, VoIP, network security, NG9-1-1, public safety networks.

Management/Supervision: Supervisory techniques, SOP’s, motivational techniques, developing leadership, teamwork, morale building, scheduling, lessons learned, quality assurance, evaluating and discussing performance, human resource issues, liability, media and public relations, disaster planning, funding and grants, legislative/regulatory issues.


Proposed program topics will be evaluated based on the quality, timeliness, relevance, practicality and focus of the topic. Historical data from surveys and evaluation of previous events will be used to analyze potential attendee interest in the topics proposed, as well as the speaker’s ability to provide a high-quality session.

Program presentations should be approximately 50 minutes in length (double sessions; i.e.: part 1 and part 2, are acceptable). Each program proposal will be reviewed and a response sent to the submitter. Program topics that market a specific product will not be accepted.


Each presenter will have one conference registration fee waived. Presenters are responsible for all travel related expenses, e.g., airline fees, hotel, etc. All presenters are required to provide their presentation to the Conference Committee prior to the start of the conference.

By completing this form and submitting your proposal to present at the 2020 Arizona APCO Conference you agree to the following:

You authorize Arizona APCO/NENA to use your name, voice, likeness, and biographical information in connection with the creation, use, and distribution of promotional materials that could include use on the World Wide Web, television, radio, and in print publications.

You grant Arizona APCO/NENA and its designees a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free license to record, edit, publish, reproduce, reprint, distribute, live stream, display, and otherwise make use of the materials and your presentation of the materials.

You warrant that the presentation and any written or verbal material submitted are original, that their publication will not infringe on the rights of others, and that you have full power to grant its use by Arizona APCO/NENA. If your presentation or written materials require permission for use, you have obtained a written permission release from the copyright proprietor.

You acknowledge that as a way to promote the conference, the Arizona APCO/NENA Chapter may allow media outlets direct access to presentation sessions which may result in recording and photographing portions of your presentation as a part of their conducting of business.

You understand that this release form applies only to materials delivered at this conference and that this release in no way prohibits you from using your own materials in any manner you so desire.
